Double Deal Dropping this Week?
Spurs have been enjoying some pre-season action this week and, as we warm up for the 2019/20 campaign, the weekend’s win over Juventus was a highlight. New signing Tanguy Ndombele made his entrance while the game was rounded off by Harry Kane’s stunning injury time winner.
Away from the pitch, it’s all been fairly quiet but could this be the week when the club makes another move into the transfer market?
The names of Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso are not exactly new as far as the gossip columns are concerned but, if we are to take anything from current reports, we could be closing in on an £80 million double deal which would get both signings over the line.
Stories concerning Lo Celso have intensified after the confirmed transfer which has taken French international Nabil Fekir from Lyon to Lo Celso’s current club Real Betis. It would seem to pave the way for the Argentinian to complete his expected departure with Spurs the only club to be strongly linked with his signature.
Various stories place the Lo Celso transfer between the £45 million and £54 million mark and, as expected, rumours suggest he will be undergoing his Tottenham medical this week.
In a busy period for the club, it’s also being claimed that Ryan Sessegnon will finally complete his move away from Fulham. The 19 year old has been enjoying a holiday after completing international duty with England’s Under 21s and now is surely the time to make a decision on his future.
On the way out?
The reports tend to be united in the claim that the chairman is looking to balance the books at the new White Hart Lane with a few departures. Atletico Madrid have already provided a new home for our former right back Kieran Trippier but the La Liga side have now been linked with two further Spurs players.
One story claims that Tottenham have offered Christian Eriksen to Atleti. The Dane had been widely linked with a move across the city to Real Madrid but it was subsequently felt that they were not interested after landing the transfer of Eden Hazard from Chelsea. Could Eriksen now be making his way to Spain to sign up with alternative employers?
Atletico Madrid could either be exceptionally interested in our surplus players or, and this could be a distinct possibility, this might be a case of lazy journalism. Whatever the ‘truth’ may be, Danny Rose has also been mentioned in terms of a transfer to Atleti where he can renew his defensive partnership, and his attendance at darts tournaments, with Trippier.
There may be a long way to go before any more departures are confirmed, although the transfer of Tripps was unexpected in terms of the swift nature. However, if there are to be further arrivals at the new White Hart Lane, they may well be confirmed this week.
At least the summer transfer window is interesting, and we haven’t been able to say that for a while, but who will be involved in the next confirmed deal?
